Tea time in the old Hindu part of Dhaka Strong tea is the order of the day in the Hindu section of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. The streets here are so narrow that only pedestrians and peddle rickshaws can navigate them.
Drying freshly dyed saris The hot Bangladeshi sun is perfect for drying freshly dyed sari material.
Heavy load on a peddle rickshaw Large loads are a common site on Bangladesh's narrow highways. The peddle rickshaws do not have gears and are very difficult to drive. The road system has to accommodate all types of traffic, from these rickshaws to heavy trucks and busses. As a result, traffic jams are the order of the day.
Small boat on the Ganges Boats of all descriptions ply the Ganges (or Padma as Bangladeshis call it) -- the backbone of Bangladesh. Local people say Bangladesh is best appreciated and understood from the river.
