are so narrow that only pedestrians and peddle rickshaws can navigate them. |

Large loads are a common site on Bangladesh's narrow highways. The
peddle rickshaws do not have gears and are very difficult to drive. The
road system has to accommodate all types of traffic, from these rickshaws
to heavy trucks and busses. As a result, traffic jams are the order of
the day. |

Boats of all descriptions ply the Ganges (or Padma as Bangladeshis
call it) -- the backbone of Bangladesh. Local people say Bangladesh is
best appreciated and understood from the river. |
