Spreadsheet to go
Leverage the power of the software and systems you already have
We are often asked if we have a contact database component in LineupNX. The
fact is we don't. We did think about it and at one time it was in our development plans
but really it seemed to us that
existing systems—from the contacts function of Microsoft Outlook to the
address book of many other email clients like Thunderbird or user designed Access databases—could
handle most of our user's needs.
We are keeping with that philosophy in LineupNX 2 but we have decided
to make it much easier to handle contact information and put it into a format that will
be compatible with your existing contact database. We are doing that by letting
LineupNX attach a spreadsheet to each item in the rundown. It can be Excel, Quattro Pro or
Open Office Calc, which ever spreadsheet your organization uses. You can make a template
for contacts that reporters and others can use it in the field. It is then a simple
task to export the data to the existing database your organization maintains.
And there is more. We have already developed sample templates for you. Using the
tabbed structure of the spreadsheet attached to a rundown our templates let you have a contacts page,
a page for shot logs taken in the field and a page for project or shoot expenses.
We will ship LineupNX 2 with our premade templates for these functions. You, of course could
add other things. To borrow from Johny Hart and the comic strip BC, the possibilities boggle the mind.
