Less and more
How to move from the current 19 item
attributes to more than 30 without cluttering the screen
The present version of LineupNX
(1.7) keeps track of 19 different attributes
for an item in a rundown. These include the page number, up to 4
keys or supers, status information, the slug itself and so on. Several
of these are user-configurable. But with increasingly more complex productions
19 attributes are not enough. Version 2 will double
that number to 38. This requires some
changes to the way LineupNX stores its data. Our challenge is to
make the changes in such a way that existing rundowns,
templates and archive files will still work with the new format.
The second major task is to increase the number of
attributes that describe an item without increasing screen clutter or
making the user interface more complex. LineupNX has always featured a very clean
interface. Our philosophy has been to show what is needed when it is
needed. In LineupNX v2 we will continue that tradition.
We are also adding the capacity to keep a
production credit list as part of each rundown. In educational
settings this will let instructors capture the roles played by
students who did not appear on air or write a script (usually
captured elsewhere in the rundown). |
