No failure to communicate
A new internal communications engine prepares LineupNX for
conversations with other programs and devices on the
network
Version 2 of LineupNX will incorporate both TCP/IP and UDP
communications protocols to exchange messages
among the various logged-in workstations on the network. Not only
will this improve the overall performance of LineupNX in large
installations with many simultaneous users, but it will permit LineupNX
to integrate with other similarly-enabled computer programs and devices
on the same network.
We are not there yet but have started testing.
Our original goal was to improve automatic workstation
updating when the Desk makes rundown changes, but we soon realized
that the same techniques could extend beyond LineupNX in a
single newsroom. We see the possibility of enabling computers in different
geographic locations to run LineupNX and work on the same rundown
simultaneously using the Internet to connect them.
