On time every time
In the control room, production staff have access to the control
room timing module. It replaces the traditional pair of stopwatches
that production assistants have used for more than five decades in TV
news.
LineupNX counts down both running tape (left clock) and time to the
next cue in an item (right clock).
It also counts down copy time for scripts, separating on-camera
copy from live voice over video and gives a five second visual and
audio warning to the end of an item (five seconds is the default
warning time. You can set it to another time if you wish. You can also
turn off the audio signal).
Of course the Light/Heavy status of the show is indicated in
seconds and is updated at the start of each recorded segment (tape or
digital video) based on recalculations of the correct hit-times the
through the show.
A window shows the current copy with voice over video shown in
yellow. Another window steps through cues in the item.
Finally, if you have a fixed cue in the show, like a back-timed roll
for closing video, the control room timers will also give a five second
warning to that roll as well.
