About LineupNX

The first version of LineupNX dates to 1984 and was designed as a "lineup machine" for one of the regional television stations of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. At that time the only computer in the newsroom was a Tandy (Radio Shack) Model 100, the world's first laptop computer. So LineupNX was written to run on that computer.

Switch to PCs and DOS

As PCs replaced typewriters in television newsrooms in the mid to late 1980s, LineupNX was completely re-written to run under the MS-DOS operating system. At that time the full intro writing and printing capabilities were added.

Then along came Windows

In 1999 in order to ensure Y2K compatibility a new version of LineupNX was written, this time for the Windows platform. Among its new features was a built-in teleprompter function. Since that time LineupNX has continued to grow in capability and functionality.

More value than ever

Today LineupNX offers the best value for money in the industry. It has capabilities rivalling the competition at a fraction of the cost.

Version conventions

Some software providers change their version numbers every year. We do not. With LineupNX we only will only change the major version number when we rewrite the program from the ground up or when we add totally new functionality. When we just add or enhance features we increase the minor number and when we fix bugs we increase the build number. That is why our current version is 1.5.24.
